Naqiz is a well-rounded lawyer, having practised in the Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property practice groups of Skrine and thereafter the Technology and Corporate and Commercial practice groups of Wong & Partners (a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International).
Naqiz has been involved in transactions and negotiations of various agreements such as asset transfer agreements, share sale and purchase agreements, restructuring for compliance with foreign equity guidelines, partnership agreements, teaming agreements, management agreements, outsourcing agreements, collaboration agreements, joint venture agreements, trust structures, development agreements and franchises. 
Naqiz has also given talks in Sri Lanka on behalf of WIPO and in New York and Boston on the topics of doing business in South East Asia. Locally, Naqiz has given talks on behalf of Microsoft, Petronas, Telekom, Nokia, Multimedia University, Multimedia Development Corporation, TV3 (Money Matters), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, Malaysian Bar Council, Regional Centre for Arbitration Kuala Lumpur, Malayan Law Journal, Asia Business Forum, Knowledge Group and the Centre for Management Technology on a myriad of legal issues.
Tan Hon Yik

Hon Yik is a founding partner of Naqiz & Partners. He previously practiced with Wong & Partners (a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a member of the banking & finance and corporate & commercial practice groups.
Hon Yik has acted for clients across a diversified range of industries and has advised clients on issues relating to corporate and commercial law, foreign acquisitions, plantations, coal mining, oil & gas, banking and finance law, major projects, securities as well as capital markets fund raising exercises. He also has extensive experience in conducting due diligence exercises in connection with the above practice areas.
Hon Yik is admitted to practice in Malaysia having graduated with a LLB (Hons) from Bond University, Australia and a LLM (Corporate & Commercial Law) from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
Some representative transactions in which Hon Yik has been involved in include:
Advising several leading Malaysian financial services groups in relation to the mergers of their asset management and unit trust divisions;
Advising a publicly listed Malaysian main board company in the acquisition of palm oil plantations in Kalimantan, Indonesia;

Khairul was called to the Malaysian Bar in September 2000. He holds a LLB (2nd Class Upper Division) from King’s College, London and a Certificate in Legal Practice (C.L.P.) from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board of Malaysia. He is currently sponsored by the Firm to undertake the Certificate for Islamic Finance Professional (“CIFP”) Programme under INCEIF and is one of the pioneer students undertaking the CIFP Programme. As such, Khairul is on track to become among the first graduates of the CIFP Programme under INCEIF.
Khairul comes with a wealth of experience from his past practice in Messrs David Chong & Co and subsequently as a senior executive in the Corporate Secretarial and Legal Department of MMC Corporation Berhad (“MMC”). Whilst in MMC, Khairul was instrumental in handling various projects, joint ventures, restructuring, privatisation contracts, intellectual property and industrial relations matters.
Khairul is also a licensed company secretary and therefore also brings with him extensive knowledge on corporate governance and various other company related issues such as conduct of meetings, code of ethics, document retention policies, corporate disclosure policies and related party transactions.
